MCO Update

Turns out the MCO that the state assigned to me (because when I filled out the application using their app it wouldn’t let me select the MCO that I wanted) is the only one that Hopkins doesn’t accept. I had called MD Health Connections to get them to switch it but I was told that I had to wait 10-15 business days because I didn’t call within the 24 hour time frame of submitting my application. So I waited, I changed the MCO to the one I had before I left the state. I had to wait another 10-15 business days for that change to go through. And that coverage doesn’t start until November 5th.

So I still haven’t been able to get my prescriptions filled yet and I don’t have the spoons to advocate for myself in this broken healthcare system because I’ve been spending my spoons advocating for myself with my bio family. With the coverage start date coming up soon I’m just waiting it out. But in the meantime having ADHD and being unmedicated means that I haven’t been able to keep up with and stay on top of all of this stuff.

It seems so small to try to advocate for Universal Healthcare when there is currently a genocide happening in the world. My healthcare needs feel insignificant in comparison because at least I have a roof over my head and I don’t have to worry about where my next meal might come from. I called and sent emails to my senators a couple of weeks ago but our government continues to support and has agreed to send aid to the government committing the genocide. Today I plan on calling the White House to voice my opposition to this aid package, it’s the least I can do.
